Christina Maggio, a public relations representative for Senior Star, told Patch via email that staff at the memory care center first learned about coronavirus cases in the facility on March 28.

Staff at the memory care center's sister site, Senior Star at Weber Place, told Patch on April 8 that they were not aware of any coronavirus cases in their facility. Maggio said that is still the case.

"Both then and today, there are no confirmed resident cases in Weber Place’s assisted living or independent living communities," Maggio said. "The associate quoted in the April 8 Patch article spoke only regarding residents in the assisted living community in which she works. "

A news release sent out by Senior Star said that as part of their ongoing coronavirus precautions, their facilities have been closed to the general public and sick pay has been extended for all employees.

"We continue to be in close communication with the Illinois Department of Public Health, and our employees, residents and family members," the release said.
