Sonic Drive-In To Replace Checkers On Route 53

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Chain drive-in restaurants are swapping locations in Romeoville. Sonic Drive-In, a retro-inspired fast food establishment, is set to replace the Checkers Drive-In on Route 53.

Romeoville Mayor John Noak told Patch the restaurant is set to open this summer and depending on construction, it could be in the coming weeks. Sonic will be located at 651 N. Independence Boulevard.

Sonic's menu items include burgers, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches, as well as classic sides such as french fries, onion rings and mozzarella sticks. The restaurant also offers a variety of frozen dessert items for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Currently, the nearest Sonic locations to Romeoville are in Lockport and Crest Hill.
