Stone City Saloon Closed As Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

The Romeoville eatery will be taking​ "thorough precautionary measures in accordance with our safety protocols​," according to social media.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Stone City Saloon has temporarily closed its doors after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. According to a social media post from the owners Saturday, the Romeoville eatery will be taking "thorough precautionary measures in accordance with our safety protocols."


"We will be closed for a few days as we undergo a deep cleaning and complete disinfection in order to keep staff and guests safe," the Facebook post said.

Like several area restaurants, Stone City Saloon had also opened its patio when Illinois moved to Phase 3 of the governor's reopening plans amid the coronavirus pandemic. With delicious American fare, this is a popular spot for diners in the village.

"Sorry to hear. Staff has done such a great job being professional and responsible through all this. Thanks for letting us know. Be well. See you soon," a diner commented on their social media post.

Will County could soon see restrictions on public gatherings once again as Will County is now at a warning level — also knows as the orange level — for the coronavirus, with COVID-19 numbers heading in the wrong direction.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, a county enters a warning level when two or more coronavirus risk indicators increase. As of Friday, Will County is at a warning level for the number of deaths as well as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

The IDPH website reports 92 cases per 100,000 residents, after a rate of 71 cases per 100,000 residents the previous week. The target for this is less than 50. The number of deaths is currently 7, which has been reported for 7 days, increasing by more than 20 percent for 2 consecutive weeks.
