Valley View Principals to Trade Schools Next Year

"All three principals are Valley View veterans and have very specific strengths," said VVSD Superintendent Dr. James A. Mitchem Jr.

Three Valley View School District 365U Principals will trade roles for the 2017-18 school year.

R.C. Hill Elementary School Principal Alyson Ewald will become Principal at Jonas Salk Elementary School in Bolingbrook, Salk Principal Laura Lucas will move to the Principal position at Wood View Elementary School in Bolingbrook and Wood View Principal Jody Ellis will become Principal at R.C. Hill in Romeoville.

“All three Principals are Valley View veterans and have very specific strengths,” said VVSD Superintendent Dr. James A. Mitchem Jr. “The best way to utilize those strengths is to match them with the climate, culture and programming in these three unique schools.”

Ewald, who taught 4th grade at R.C. Hill for four years and was Assistant Principal for an additional four years, has been Principal at Hill for the past six years.

Lucas, who has been with VVSD since 2003, has been Principal at Salk for two years. She began her VVSD career as an early childhood special education teacher and kindergarten teacher at Pioneer Elementary School before becoming a Reading Specialist at B.J. Ward and Irene King elementary schools. She served as King Assistant Principal for several years.

Ellis came to Wood View three years ago after serving as Assistant Principal and Dean of Students at Humphrey Middle School for five years. She joined VVSD as a 3rd grade teacher at Hermansen Elementary School in 2000.
