Veterans Day 2018: What's Closed, What's Open In Romeoville
Some schools and local government offices are closed Monday.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Veterans Day this year is Sunday, Nov. 11, and events will be held in some nearby communities to honor those who have served. Many government offices will be closed on Friday in observance of the weekend holiday, along with some local schools — including those in Valley View School District, Joliet Public School District 86 and Joliet Township High School District, along with Joliet Catholic Academy and St. Andrew the Apostle in Romeoville. Others, including Plainfield School District 202, Troy School District 30-C, Cathedral of St. Raymond Grade School in Joliet and St. Mary Immaculate Parish School in Plainfield, will be open.
What's open and closed on Veterans Day:
- Banks: Most are closed. Call your bank if you're thinking of stopping by.
- Post offices: Closed
- Federal offices: Closed
- Local government offices: Most Closed Friday (including Plainfield, Joliet, Shorewood Bolingbrook and Romeoville)
- Trash Pickup: Normal
- Most restaurants will be open, some will offer discount to active military personnel and veterans.

Want to honor local veterans? The Village of Romeoville will host a Veterans Day ceremony at the Edward "Doc" McCartan Veterans Memorial at 10 a.m. Sunday.
