School District Appoints New Assistant Superintendent
Nita White succeeds Rachel Kinder, who is now VVSD superintendent of schools, and comes from Freeport School District 145.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Valley View School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Nita White to the position of assistant superintendent for educational services.
White succeeds Rachel Kinder, who is now VVSD superintendent of schools, and comes to VVSD from Freeport School District 145 in Freeport, IL, where she began serving as the director of equity and curriculum in 2015.
She began her career in education as an elementary school bilingual teacher, moving into educational administration in 1999 when she accepted the position of coordinator of bilingual education in Woodstock Community Unit School District 200. Since this time, White has served in numerous leadership roles including principal and assistant principal at the elementary and secondary levels in a variety of school district settings.

In her role as the director of equity and curriculum in Freeport District 145, her duties included providing leadership to the district in its efforts to provide equal educational opportunities to all students, providing professional learning on diversity and inclusion, directing the district’s bilingual education program, overseeing curriculum and instruction implementation and supervising and evaluating principals.
White earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Howard University. She continued her education by earning a Master of Education in instructional leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Currently, she is in the Doctor of Education program at Aurora University and is working toward completing a doctorate degree in education and administration.
