2019 Summer Event And Festival Guide For Skokie, Lincolnwood

Enjoy festivals, fairs and markets all summer long on the North Shore.

With school letting out and summer kicking into gear on the North Shore, we've compiled a summer-long list of upcoming events in Skokie and Lincolnwood. There's fun activities for kids and adults across town all summer long. Find schedules, events and registration deadlines below for festivals, fairs and markets set for summer 2019, or add your own to the Patch calendar.

Skokie

Wednesdays on the Green
At 7 p.m. every Wednesday from June 5 to Aug. 21, events will be held at Village Green between Village Hall and the library on Oakton Street. There will be free live music, family fun and dancing. Find a full schedule of performers online. In case of rain, concerts will be held inside the library.

Skokie Pride
The inaugural family-friendly LGBTQ pride event is taking place from 1 to 5 p.m. on June 9 at Lorel Park and is hosted by Skokie United and the Skokie Park District. Events include drag storytime, live music, stand-up comedy, food, bouncy houses, a DJ and more.

Uncasked Beer Festival
A craft beer tasting event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Cube Park at the Old Orchard shopping center. The event is $25 and will include 10 types of craft beer, food samples, a cooking demonstration, live entertainment and more. Proceeds go to the charity Fight2Feed.

Summer Movies in the Park
Four free movie showings are planned in Lorel Park at dusk, including the original "Jungle Book" on June 13, the 2015 version of "Cinderella" on June 27, "How to Train Your Dragon" on July 11 and 1955's "Lady and the Tramp" on Aug. 8.

Independence Day In Skokie
The Fourth of July parade begins at noon at Oakton Community College, heads up Lincoln Avenue to Niles Center Road before turning right on Oakton Street and heading downtown Skokie. Starting at 5 p.m., activities are planned at Niles West High School, culminating in a 3D fireworks festival. The first 10,000 people to arrive will receive free 3D glasses. In case of bad weather the event will be held the following day.

Sundown Concert Series
Free musical performances will be held at Devonshire Park at 7 p.m. on Sundays from July 14 to Aug. 11.

Craft Cocktail Festival
The Old Orchard shopping center will host a craft cocktail event from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 15. The event will feature samples of food and drink from local restaurants and distillers, live entertainment, a raffle, shopping deals and more. Tickets are $25, with 100 percent of the ticket sales benefiting Fight2Feed.

Backlot Bash
For the 12th year, Skokie's annual downtown celebration returns Aug. 23-25 with three days of music and fun, including a carnival midway, community resources fair, auto show, kids activities, classic films, farmers' market, fun run and more on Oakton Street between Lincoln and Laramie Avenues. This year's headliners include WAR, the Smithereens with guest vocalist Marshal Crenshaw and Material Issue.

North Shore Affordable Art Sale
Held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 21 and Sept. 22 at the Old Orchard shopping center, there will be up to 100 juried artists, live music and food at this free event where artists will be clearing out their inventories to close out the summer season.


Lincolnwood

Summer Concert Series
A series of free concerts will be held on Thursday nights from 7 to 8:30 p.m. between June 6 and July 18 at Proesel Park, 7055 Kostner Ave. In case of bad weather, performances may be moved to the picnic shelter.

Fourth of July Concert
A concert featuring the Lincolnwood Youth Strings Orchestra is planned for 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Proesel Park Shelter.

Lincolnwood Fest
More than 35,000 visitors are expected to take part in the annual festival at Proesel Park over four days from July 25 to July 28. The event will feature live music, carnival rides, food, drink, bingo and more. The event is free, but carnival tickets are $1 and rides can cost up to 7 tickets. Find a full schedule online.
