4 More Niles West Students Named 2021 National Merit Scholars
This year's first group of college-sponsored merit scholarship winners was announced Wednesday.

SKOKIE, IL — Six high school seniors who live or attend school in Skokie were recently named National Merit scholarship winners. They include four Niles West High School students, one from Niles North and a Skokie resident who attends school in Northfield.
The group includes a pair of winners of $2,500 cash scholarships and four winners of college-sponsored merit scholarships worth between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years. A final group of about 900 winners of college-sponsored scholarships is due to be announced next month.
Out of the 1.5 million students who applied for the scholarship nationwide and 16,000 who qualified as finalists, about 7,500 will receive scholarships for their undergraduate education from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the Evanston-based nonprofit that established the program in 1955.
