Alternate Side Parking Remains In Effect In Skokie

Parking will only be allowed Tuesday on the odd-numbered side of village roads.

SKOKIE, IL — With the first significant snowfall of the year and a snow day for suburban public schools, Skokie implemented its alternate-side parking program Monday.

The program continues Tuesday, with all cars required to park on the side of the street with odd numbers as addresses.

Vehicles that fail to abide by the parking restrictions may be ticketed and towed under the village. For more information call the snow hotline at 847-675-7669.

Streets under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Highway Department or the Illinois Department of Transportation are exempt from the alternate side parking regulations. (Full list of exempt streets.)

The village has a fleet of about 35 "plowing units," eight bombardiers, four tractors and other equipment. Skokie business owners are responsible under village ordinance for clearing public sidewalks.

On days where alternate-side parking rules are in place, parking is allowed in village-owned parking lots at the Skokie Swift station. Parking restrictions in the lot go back into effect after 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

For those that need help shoveling, the village offers the TeenLink database of available local teenagers willing to shovel snow and do other outside yard work. Residents may request the database showing contact information for the teen, the type of work they are willing to do and how much they expect to be paid. Residents are responsible for scheduling and arranging payment. More info...
