Armed Bank Robber Strikes Skokie TCF Bank

The FBI said a man in an American flag gaiter and Cubs hat brandished a handgun during a bank robbery Friday afternoon on Skokie Boulevard.

SKOKIE, IL — A man with a gun robbed a Skokie bank Friday, according to the FBI.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., a man walked into the TCF Bank located inside the Jewel-Osco at 9449 Skokie Boulevard, inside the Skokie Pointe shopping center.

He brandished a handgun at a teller and demanded money. He took as-yet-unknown amount of cash and fled west, according to an FBI spokesperson.

No injuries were reported, and Skokie police searched the area but did not find the gunman.

The robber was described as a 30- to 40-year-old man, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, black with a light complexion and a thin build.

He was wearing a blue and black windbreaker with a half-zip front, a gaiter-style face covering with an American flag in a blue and black design, dark pants and shoes and a Chicago Cubs baseball hat.

The robber also appears to be holding a blue disposable surgical mask in his left hand during the incident.

The FBI asked anyone with information about the robbery to submit tips by phone to 312-421-6700 or anonymously online at tips.fbi.gov. No reward for information leading to his capture was immediately announced.
