Best Pizza Place In Skokie: Readers Pick

The top spots for pizza in a Patch survey — Village Inn, Lou Malnati's and La Rosa — have served the community for over 150 years combined.

SKOKIE, IL — The results are in from our survey of Skokie Patch readers for their choice of the best pizza place in town.

Dozens of readers submitted responses last week with their recommendations and go-to orders in our reader's poll, and a trio of pizza joints with a combined century and half of service to the Skokie area emerged as the clear favorites.

Number 1

Village Inn, the pizzeria and sports bar at 8050 Lincoln Ave., was the top vote-getter in our survey, with with more than 33 percent of respondents naming it the best pizza in the area.

"Best anywhere, not just in town," according to one reader, a fan of the thin-crust cheese.

Formerly the site of Alberti's Pizzeria, Village Inn has been around for 30 years, with its longtime management team taking over as owners last year.

"Great service, tasty pizza and a variety of toppings between thin and thick crust," another reader said.

Number 2

Lou Malnati's original location at 6649 Lincoln Ave. in Lincolnwood was the pick of nearly 24 percent of Skokie Patch readers, who highlighted the quality of its crust.

Since starting in 1971, the chain now includes 57 locations in Illinois and more than a dozen others across Wisconsin, Indiana and Arizona.

"The crust is filled with flavor and crispy due to cornmeal crust," said one reader.

"High quality ingredients, especially the crust, and great customer service," said another.

Number 3

La Rosa, located at 4012 Golf Road since 1957, received support from more than 21 percent of respondents. Skokie Patch readers praised its fresh ingredients and execution of both deep dish and thin crust styles.

"Huge old oven bakes a thin crust that is unbeatable," said one reader, who enjoys a thin crust with sausage and mushrooms. "The sauce and toppings are delicious and in just the right proportions. Always friendly owner is a superb pizza chef."

"Consistently delicious," said another thin-crust fan. "Gooey and salty cheese, crisp crust, flavorful sausage. It’s so good when you first get it and stays delicious for leftovers. Been a favorite of mine for over 20 years."
