C.A.R.E: This August will mark Community Animal Rescue Effort's second year in its new Adoption Center at 4927 Main St., Skokie. In a move that will position C.A.R.E. for future growth, the not-for-profit animal rescue organization has launched a search for a full-time Adoption Center Operations Director. The paid position, the first in C.A.R.E.'s 32-year history, will bolster its all-volunteer model.

“Our organization has achieved amazing accomplishments through volunteer power, ” says Interim President Heather Brown. “In addition to rescuing and re-homing so many cats and dogs each year, we were able to save enough funds to open a home of our own in Skokie. But now that C.A.R.E.'s needs have grown since opening our doors last summer, it's time to take the next step.”

This full-time position will provide executive leadership, overall operational and administrative management, and technical expertise for Adoption Center operations and services. The Director will be responsible for overseeing daily work of the C.A.R.E. Adoption Center, managing operations and volunteer leadership and ensuring that all animals are well cared for as they await their forever homes.

“Our volunteers will continue to be the life-blood of our organization,” Brown adds. “That said, adding a full-time director will allow C.A.R.E. to remain volunteer-driven while also accelerating our course into the next phase of our existence. Simply put, it's what we need to move forward.”
