Construction Projects on Dempster Street and Gross Point Road

Construction work on both Dempster Street and Gross Point Road continues through fall 2021; both will remain open with delays expected.

On June, 14, 2021, the Illinois Department of Transportation begins two large road construction projects in Skokie:

  • Dempster Street from Skokie Boulevard to McCormick Boulevard. The work will consist of structure adjustments, pavement patching, milling and paving of asphalt pavement. Dempster Street will remain open but expect traffic delays. The work is scheduled to be completed in fall 2021.
  • Gross Point Road from Howard Street to Oakton Street. The work will consist of structure adjustments, pavement patching, milling and paving of asphalt pavement. Gross Point Road will remain open but expect traffic delays. The work is scheduled to be completed in late summer 2021.
