Cops Cracking Down Over St. Patrick's Day Weekend

The Skokie Police Department plans to enforce their Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown on drunk drivers this St. Patrick’s Day.

“We are reminding everyone this weekend to Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket,” said Sgt. David Pawlak. “If you plan on drinking alcohol, designate a sober driver before the party begins. Be responsible or risk a DUI.”

Several DUI roadside safety checkpoints in conjunction with several saturation patrols will take place in the early morning hours during this upcoming holiday period. The dates, times, and locations of these checkpoints are as follows:

• Thursday, March 14 through the 15^th, in the 8200 block of Skokie Boulevard from 11:15 p.m. to 3:15 a.m.
• Friday, March 15 through the 16^th, from 11:15 p.m. t 3:15 a.m. in the 5000 block of Dempster Street.
• Saturday, March 16 through the 17^th, from 11:15 p.m. to 3:15 a.m. in the 8600 block of McCormick Boulevard.
• Sunday, March 17 through the 18^th, from 11:15 p.m. to 3:15 a.m. in the 5200 block of Touhy Avenue.

St. Patrick’s Day Must Knows -

If you are hosting a St. Patrick’s Day party:

· Remember, you can be held liable and prosecuted if someone you serve is involved in an impaired driving crash.
· Make sure all of your guests designate a sober driver in advance or help arrange ride sharing with other sober drivers.
· Serve lots of food and include lots of non-alcoholic beverages at the party.
· Keep the phone numbers for local cab companies handy and take the keys away from anyone who is thinking of driving impaired.
