CTA Yellow Line Service Suspended By Trees On Tracks After Storm

Bus shuttle service is available from the Howard Street to the Dempster-Skokie station.

SKOKIE, IL — CTA Yellow Line trains were halted Friday morning due to debris on the tracks, officials announced.

Shortly after 5:15 a.m., officials said Skokie Swift service would be temporarily suspended.

Bus shuttles are available between the Howard and Dempster-Skokie stations, according to a CTA alert.

Heavy rain and wind during overnight storms knocked tree branches and other debris into the roadways and left more than 10,000 people without power across the Chicago area.

CTA officials got word around 5 a.m. that "various trees" were blocking the tracks near Dodge Street, according to a spokesperson.

Officials expect to have cleared the debris from the tracks and the surrounding area by midday.
