• St. Peter's Catholic School in Skokie is collecting new or gently used shoes and packaged (canned or vacuum-packed foil packets) tuna and salmon, on Wednesday. They will be shipped to the Philippines for Typhoon Haiyan disaster relief. For more information, call 847-673-1492 during business hours.

• If you need a refresher on Judaism, or a member of your family has married into Judaism, or for anyone wanting to learn more about the faith, the "Introduction to Judaism" course meets Tuesdays at Temple Beth Israel in Skokie. It covers topics like birth, death, Jewish culture and history, repentance, worship and spirituality. 

• Toy Drives often don't get enough toys for kids ages 10 to 13, so the Village Inn in Skokie, 8050 Lincoln, will take 15 percent off your check if you bring in a new holiday toy to give to a child in this age group. Through Dec. 12. 

• Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette is hosting an open house Wednesday evening for sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls and their parents.  Students will take visitors on a personalized tour, and visitors can meet faculty, staff and other parents. 6 p.m.

• "Unique Treasures Holiday Boutique," a sale of artisan crafts, edibles, candles, handmade clothes, jewelry and decor and unique beautiful items to benefit NorthShore University Health System, takes place Wednesday at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Oakton Community College, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Enter through Door 21.
