Evanston Man Found Shot Dead In Skokie Hotel Room
The death of 34-year-old man found in the Hampton Inn has been ruled a homicide.

SKOKIE, IL — The death of an Evanston man found fatally shot in a Skokie hotel room Tuesday is being investigated as a possible murder, police said.
Skokie police were on their way to a call of a medical emergency at the Hampton Inn and Suites Chicago North Shore/Skokie, 5201 Old Orchard Road, shortly before 5 p.m. when they got word that someone may have been been shot.
Dyrek Coleman, 34, was found dead, with a gunshot wound, in one of the hotel's rooms, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, which ruled his death a homicide.

Skokie police called in the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, or NORTAF, to investigate the incident. Detectives believe Coleman may have been murdered, according to a police spokesperson.
No information was available from police Wednesday afternoon about the circumstances of the shooting, including whether the fatal shooting is believed to have taken place in the hotel room, whether a group of people had been gathered there and whether witnesses are cooperating with investigators.
