Here Is The Most Expensive Home Sold In Skokie In 2019
The average purchase price of homes sold in the village has risen every year since 2011.

SKOKIE, IL — More than 450 homes worth nearly $167 million changed hands last year in Skokie, as sales prices rose for the eighth consecutive year, according to local real estate agents.
The 2019 median closing price for single-family detached homes in the village was $340,000, according to data provided by the North Shore Barrington Association of Realtors.
That represents Skokie's highest median sales price since 2007. Average home values in the village have now risen to 85 percent of their pre-recession peak.

Since prices fell below $225,000 in 2011, more homes have been selling every year at higher average prices, the data show.

The most expensive house sold all year in Skokie was a 5,000-square-foot Colonial built in 1938 on a 0.9-acres parcel on the east side of Evanston Country Club, according to its listing and data from local Realtors. The "meticulously maintained" property had never been put on the market before.
The six-bedroom stone home includes a spacious outdoor patio with views of the golf course, a first-floor master suite, two word-burning fireplaces and a garage with room for three cars.

The property was first listed in June 2018 with an asking price of $1.8 million. It was reduced in November 2018 to $1.6 million. The sale closed on Aug. 29, 2019, for $1.1 million.
According to Cook County records, the property's 2019 estimated market value for taxing purposes was $785,530. Its annual tax bill was about $29,000 last year.
In December 2019, the median list price of homes for sale was about $340,000, and the median sales price last month was $272,500 — each only about $5,000 less than the same month a year earlier, according to data from Realtor.com, which considers Skokie to be a balanced market with an equilibrium of buyers and sellers.
Last year, homes on the market in Skokie went an average of 79 days before selling, a week longer than it took the year before, according to local realtors.
