Ida Crown Jewish Academy Senior Among Top Students in Nation

ICJA senior is the only Jewish day school student in Illinois to rank among the top 1 percent of high school students in the nation

Congratulations to ICJA senior Jacob Miller on being recognized as a National Merit Scholarship winner. He is the only Jewish day school student in Illinois to rank among the top 1 percent of high school students in the nation.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation, an Evanston-based nonprofit, picks 2,500 winners of the cash scholarships among those judged to have the "strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in rigorous college studies."

"Being awarded this scholarship is a meaningful honor and an affirmation of all my hard work throughout high school. I plan to use the scholarship to study applied mathematics at Harvard, and I look forward to continuing my study of math and political engagement at Harvard and beyond. Ida Crown’s faculty was helpful in developing my love for math," said Jacob.

About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program. According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), about 90 percent of semifinalists advance to become finalists, with only half of those winning a National Merit Scholarship.
