New Mall Could Sprout On West Side Of Old Orchard
A developer is looking at knocking down an office tower to create 120,000 square feet of retail space, Crain's Chicago Business reports.
A new retail space and residential tower could be built abutting Westfield Old Orchard Mall, replacing a six-story office tower.
Seth Singerman of Singerman Real Estate LLC is considering building a mixed-use facility with about 120,000 square feet of retail space and a residential tower on the property, which is west of Bloomingdale's, Crain's Chicago Business reports.
Old Orchard has a track record of close to 100 percent occupancy, said Ann Tennes, marketing and communications director for the Village of Skokie. At the moment, there are two restaurant spaces vacant--the sites of the former Champps Americana and Wild & Greene--but the village anticipates those will be filled.
The mall's location in the corridor between the city and the North Shore suburbs makes it a prime retail space.
