Niles Township Families: Free Breakfasts/Lunches for 18 and Under

There is an updated schedule for the free meals program between D219 and Quest Food Management Services. Please see the updated schedule.

(Quest Food Management Services)

Families living in Niles Township may now get free lunches and breakfasts for anyone 18 years of age and younger, seven days a week. Niles Township High School District 219 is expanding the program beginning October 13, 2020, in collaboration with Quest Food Management Services, the district’s onsite food service provider.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended the free meals program previously known as the Summer Food Service Program (SFPS), which provides children and teens age 18 and under with free meals when in-person school is not in session. With many students now learning from home or a combination of home learning and some days at school (hybrid model), the free meals program has been extended in an effort to ensure kids have access to healthy and nutritious meals. There is no registration, paperwork or income verification required. Picking up the meals is easy for busy parents/guardians. Children do not have to be present and no ID, income verification or paperwork is required.

Meals will be distributed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Niles North and Niles West. On Tuesdays, three days of meals will be provided, including hot, cold and reheatable meals, and on Thursdays, four days of meals will be provided. There are special pickups on Tuesday, November 24, Tuesday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 29 in which 7 meals will be distributed due to the upcoming holiday. There are NO pickups on Thursday, November 26, Thursday, December 24 and Thursday, December 31.

There are three pickup locations. Please note: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. pickup ONLY at Niles North and Niles West.
