Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Auto in Skokie

A Skokie resident was pronounced dead following an accident at Main Street and Skokie Boulevard on Tuesday. He has been identified as Alan Rubin, 57.

The 57-year-old man that was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and Skokie Boulevard died on Wednesday, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said today.

The man has been identified as Alan Rubin, of Skokie.

A vehicle heading southbound on Skokie Boulevard attempting to head east on Main Street struck struck Rubin on Tuesday at approximately 3:30 p.m., police said.

He was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston to treat injuries. Rubin was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. the following day, the medical examiner’s office said.

It is unclear if drugs, speeding or alcohol played a role in the crash at this time.

Editor's note: It was originally reported that the driver was heading eastbound on Main Street. This information was provided by the Skokie Police Department. The driver in fact was heading southbound on Skokie Boulevard and attempted to head east on Main Street before hitting the pedestrian.
