Prescription Take Back Program in Skokie

Do you have unwanted prescription pills? Then turn them in on April 27 in Skokie.

To prevent or reduce accidental contamination of streams, rivers, and lakes, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) is joining the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) national “Take-Back” initiative.

The MWRD will be collecting unwanted medicine from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 at O’Brien Water Reclamation Plant located at 3500 Howard St. in Skokie.  This is a great opportunity for those who have accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications.

This will be the fifth nationally organized prescription drug take-back day, and the MWRD has participated in each of them. In the four previous events, DEA in conjunction with state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners removed more than two million pounds of prescription medications from circulation.
