Rash of Car Burglaries in Skokie

Theft from auto

An iPod and GPS unit were reported stolen from a car parked in the 8200 block of Knox Avenue on March 27.

Cash was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 8100 block of Knox Avenue on March 27.

Car burglars nabbed
Officers investigated a report of burglary from motor vehicle in the 8200 block of Tripp Avenue on March 27.
The complainant reported that he saw two unknown subjects inside his neighbor’s SUV while it was parked on the street. The complainant yelled at the subjects and they fled the scene.
Police ultimately caught the subjects and charged Stacy Terrell, 19, of Chicago and Filbert Elonge, 19, also of Chicago, with burglary.
Ruse burglary
A homeowner lost $4,000 in cash after an unknown man entered the victim’s home posing as a neighbor, police said.
The incident occurred in the 9400 block of Kildare Avenue on March 25. According to police, the victim reported that an unknown offender rang her doorbell and stated that her neighbor’s pump broke and her backyard was flooding.
The offender then entered the woman’s home after she gave permission. The culprit then distracted the victim and removed an envelope containing $4,000, police said. The suspect would then flee the scene in a black sedan. No arrests were made.
Theft at Nordstrom
Jaclyn Russell, 18, of Skokie, and a juvenile were charged with retail theft on March 26. The duo attempted to steal several pieces of clothing from Nordstrom in Old Orchard Mall, police said.
Theft at Famous Footware
Lashawn Green, 18, of Skokie, was charged with retail theft on March 22. Green attempted to steal a pair of shoes from Famous Footware, 7131 Central Ave., but wearing them out of the store, police said.
Slashed tires
A man reported that an unknown person(s) slashed all four of his vehicle’s tires in the 9500 block of Bronx Avenue on March 26.
