Skokie Alternate Side Parking In Effect After 8 Inches Of Snow
Trash collection is postponed Monday and alternate side parking rules are in place through Tuesday.

SKOKIE, IL — Due to heavy snowfall over the weekend, Skokie's alternate side parking rules are in effect for Monday and Tuesday, village staff announced.
Village public works crews have been at work clearing streets in Skokie since late Saturday night. The work is expected to continue through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Sidewalk snow plowing has since begun, with alley plowing starting early Monday morning into the early morning hours Tuesday.

- On Monday, parking is permitted only on the side of the road with odd-numbered addresses.
- On Tuesday, parking will only be permitted on the even-numbered side of the road.
The two-day snow removal scheme is triggered anytime the village gets two or more inches of snow. Skokie was hit with more than 8 inches of snow of snow, according to village staff.
Police frequently get calls from residents who are concerned about cars on their block who violate the rules and prevent plows from clearing their whole street, according to village staff.

Officers will be dispatched to write up a costly citation — if they have already conducted enforcement on a given block and then get fresh complaints of scofflaws.
The alternate-side parking requirements are in place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
Trash pickups scheduled for Monday has been postponed until Tuesday. Collections scheduled for Tuesday will be picked up Wednesday, with the regular refuse collection schedule in place for the rest of the week. Recycling collection will remain unchanged.
