Skokie Native Gets Play Reviewed In Washington Post

Darrah Cloud, who grew up in Skokie, earned a Master of Fine Arts, teaches, and has a long resume in creative writing and writing for theater, TV and film, has written a play about Skokie.

A production of her play Our Suburb, which is about Skokie people, and is set during the 1970s at the time the Nazis planned a march on Skokie--which serves as a backdrop to the play's events--has been reviewed in the Washington Post.

We caught up briefly with Cloud during the holidays.

Patch: How long will the show run in Washington?

Darrah Cloud:
 Through January 12.

Where do you live now?

New York.

Do you visit Skokie much?

Yes, but my parents are gone now.

Are there any plans for a Chicago production of your show?

I'm trying. It is my dream to have it done there.

Have you written other plays?

Many. I have had a long career in theatre and television.

Do you have any more plays in the works?

Always. Working now on a musical based on lives of Mary Kay and Estée Lauder.
