Skokie’s iconic Four Cohn Shoes is preparing to close at the end of July due to unexpected health reasons and while owner Howard Cohen’s illness is not life threatening, he says his energy is not the same and he sometimes has vision problems, Skokie Review reported.

The family-run business has been open since 1910 first at Division Street and Western Avenue in Chicago and for about 25 years on the 5012 Dempster Street in Skokie, while Cohen would have loved keeping the store open for as long as possible, “nothing goes on forever,” he told Skokie Review.
