Kevin Luthardt and Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra of Skokie will be honored with the 2013 Skokie Award for Artistic Excellence at the June 3 Village Board meeting, according to a press release.
“Skokie is so fortunate to have such a positive demonstration of creativity and continuation of contribution through the arts by both Kevin Luthardt and Ars Viva,” Andrea Siegel, Fine Arts Commission chairman said in a statement. “Both have brought the spirit of visual and musical arts to many people in our community.”
Both Luthardt and the orchestra will receive a plaque for their contribution to the arts in Skokie from the Fine Arts Commission, village board and Mayor George Van Dusen.
Founded in 1995, Ars Viva is distinguished by performances of the highest quality with musicians selected from the finest players in the Chicago metropolitan area, many of whom are members of the world-renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Its programs often juxtapose beloved masterworks with less familiar repertoire.
