Skokie Wooing City Manager From Michigan, Paper Reports

Skokie is trying to hire a former assistant village manager, but he's holding out for big bucks, the Macomb Daily reported.

The Macomb Daily is reporting that the village of Skokie is trying to hire the Sterling Heights, Mich. city manager, Mark Vanderpool.

Skokie Village Manager Al Rigoni told Skokie Patch months ago that he intended to retire at the end of 2013.

Vanderpool worked as assistant village manager in Skokie for 11 years, from 1993 until 2004, according to his LinkedIn.com profile. He then became city manager of Sterling Heights, which has roughly twice Skokie's population, and is the fourth largest city in Michigan.

The paper said Vanderpool told Skokie he will only take the job if he receives the same salary Rigoni is receiving, $250,000.
