Teen Resists Officer, Burglaries and More

Theft from auto

About $5 in loose change was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 8300 block of Kildare Avenue on March 28. The victim told police that he left his doors unlocked, the report stated.

Residential burglary

Police responded to a burglary in the 8000 block of Knox Avenue on March 28. According to the report, a laptop and $1,000 in cash was stolen. Brute force was used against the front door to gain entry, officials said.

A home in the 7800 block of Kostner Avenue was ransacked on March 28. According to police, about $4,000 in cash and about $6,000 to $7,000 in jewelry was stolen. Brute force was used against a back door to gain entry, the report stated.

A dozen purses stolen from DSW

Police responded to a theft at DSW Shoes, 9601 Skokie Blvd., on March 27. According to police, two offenders grabbed 12 to 14 Michael Kors brand purses and ran out the store. Each purse is valued between $150 to $350.

Stolen phone, wallet

A man reported that an unknown offender grabbed his smarthphone and wallet from a bench in Gross Point Park on March 28. The victim told police he was playing basketball at the time of the incident.

DUI

Mitchell Johnson, 38, of Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence on March 28. Johnson was stopped in the 5000 block of Dempster Street for a traffic violation. He had a blood alcohol content level of .223, the report stated.

Resisting an officer

A male juvenile was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle, resisting an officer and obstruction on March 26. The teen was arrested in the 4200 block of Cleveland Street on March 26.
