Teens Seeking Gently Used Prom Dresses

The Glass Slipper Project, a nonprofit that helps underprivileged high school girls obtain prom dresses, has teamed up with Westfield Old Orchard, the group announced on Wednesday.

The Glass Slipper Project is a locally based non-profit that supplies prom dresses and accessories, free of charge, to those less fortunate.  Westfield Old Orchard will be collecting new and gently-used prom dresses and accessories through the month of March. 

Additionally, to help raise awareness, Old Orchard joined forces with the local fashion programs at Niles North, Niles West and New Trier high schools.  Teams of fashion students created prom-inspired fashion sculptures in conjunction with Oak Street Design, another participant in the partnership. The constructed dresses will be displayed near the Koi Pond (just north of Macy’s) at the Old Orchard shopping center in honor of the upcoming prom season and The Glass Slipper Project partnership, according to a press release.  Shoppers will be able to vote for their favorite sculpture via Facebook through May; the winning team earns a prize courtesy of Westfield’s retailers.

Where do I drop off my gently used prom dress?

• Donation Drop-off Dates:  Saturday March 16th and Saturday March 23rd from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
• Location:  The Westfield Old Orchard Concierge located near Helzberg Diamonds
• Make a prom dress donation and receive a $10 Westfield Gift Card (limit one per customer, while supplies last). Accessories also accepted.
• Address: 4999 Old Orchard Center (Skokie Boulevard and Old Orchard Road).
