Old Orchard will have an artistic flair as the host of the North Shore Festival of Art this weekend. More than 120 artists from around the country will showcase ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture, mixed media, paintings, drawings, photography, printmaking, wood and furniture. The festival will also feature live art demos, music and kids’ activities.

Skokie Farmers’ Market

July 28, 7:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., 5127 Oakton St.

Visit Skokie’s Sunday Farmers’ Market, and get a taste of fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and baked goods from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan.

The Romantic and Impressionistic Music of Clifford Julstrom

July 28, 10:30 a.m., Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago, 7574 N. Lincoln Ave.

Rosa Julstrom and son Steve Julstrom will present “Rural Impressions” a violin and piano suite by husband and father, Clifford Julstrom. “Rural Impressions” was inspired by Julstrom’s life in the Midwest, where he was chair of the music department at Western Illinois University.

July 28, 3-4:30 p.m., Skokie Public Library, Petty Auditorium

In this multimedia concert of opera and art song, the cast travels from a train station. Their luggage and belongings piece together a story of where they have been and where they are going. The characters journey through America, Europe, Asia and Africa as while performing a matching musical piece.
