Woman, 81, Injured in Four Car Crash

An 81-year-woman from Buffalo Grove caused a four car accident at the intersection of Crawford Avenue and Dempster Street in Skokie on Sunday, police said.

An 81-year-old Buffalo Grove woman was hospitalized after causing a four car crash at the intersection of Dempster Street and Crawford Avenue on Sunday around 4 p.m., police said. A stoplight at the southeast corner of the intersection was also knocked down as a result of the crash.

According to police, the woman was heading southbound on Crawford Avenue when she ran a red light, causing her to hit a vehicle in front of her. She then hit a stoplight at the northwest corner of the intersection.

The driver then lost control of her vehicle and went across east and westbound traffic, hitting two other vehicles in the process. Her car ultimately crashed into a stoplight at the southeast corner of Crawford and Dempster, police said.

The woman was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. It is unclear what injuries she sustained. 

No other injuries were reported.
