Another Low In Western Springs Coronavirus Cases: County
The rate of Western Springs' increase is lowest since June, stats show.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs saw the lowest weekly percentage increase in new coronavirus cases since June, according to the Cook County Public Health Department.
As of Sunday, Western Springs had 917 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 16 from a week earlier, or a 1.8 percent increase. The week before, the village experienced a 2.5 percent hike.
The number of Western Springs' virus-related deaths remained the same at four, with the last one reported as being on Nov 21, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. That's a mortality rate of less than 1 percent. All the local deaths have been those who were 58 or older, according to the county medical examiner.

As of Sunday, Western Springs had 68.6 coronavirus cases per thousand people, better than most of its neighbors. The figure compares to 66.6 in Darien, 66.7 in La Grange Park, 72.8 in Hinsdale, 75.3 in DuPage County, 76.6 in Elmhurst, 79.4 in Clarendon Hills, 83.5 in suburban Cook County, 87.4 in Burr Ridge and 92.1 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,146,341, up 1.8 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 19,633 state residents.
Nationally, 26.8 million people have caught the virus, up 3.2 percent from the week before. A total of 460,582 people have died from the virus in the United States.
