Pay Hike For Western Springs Village Manager

A trustee said the manager was "the consummate professional in every way."

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs' village manager is receiving a 4.25 percent pay raise, which is retroactive to her anniversary date in September.

On Monday, the Village Board unanimously voted for a $7,222 increase for Manager Ellen Baer, who took the helm in 2021. Her pay is now $177,172.

Baer is also set to receive $8,000 in deferred compensation, putting her total package at $185,172.

In 2021, Baer's salary started at $165,000. She received a 3 percent increase last year, to $169,950.

Trustee James Tyrrell said the money was well-earned and well-deserved.

"We couldn't be more pleased with the skills and ability provided by Village Manager Ellen Baer," he said. "She is the consummate professional in every way. She's always pleasant, always available and always astute."

Before becoming manager, Baer was the village's director of administrative services for four years.

Her manager's contract expires in May 2025.
