Delightful Beginning for a New Season

Western Springs Music Club members and guests were treated to a beautiful concert on a perfect September 11th afternoon at the First United Methodist Church in Hinsdale.

Michele Lekas (violin) and Sooka Wang (piano) performed Vivaldi’s “Spring” from Four Seasons, Op.8.

Shostakovich’s “Three Violin Duets” was performed by Michele Lekas and Linda Veckis (violins), and Nola Gustafson (piano).

Mark Lekas (cello) performed “Unaccompanied Suite in G Major for Cello Allemande” by Bach.

Mark Lekas (cello), accompanied by Nola Gustafson (piano) performed “Supplication ‘From Jewish Life’ No.2”, and “Prayer ‘From Jewish Life’ No. 1”, by Ernest Block, in memory of 9/11.

Janet Mensen Reynolds (mezzo soprano), Lauren Reynolds (soprano), and Kathy Christian (piano), performed Brahms’ “Four Duets, Op.61”.

Jennifer Petkus (clarinet) and Matthew Hogan (piano and bassoon) presented “Cantilene” by Louis Cahuzac, “Sonata for Clarinet and Bassoon” by Poulenc, and “Guisganderie” by Faustin and Maurice Jeanjean.
