Local Eagle Scout supports our Troops

Pete Buinauskas, member of Troop 12 and sophomore at Fenwick HS, collects items for our deployed US Sailors

Pete Buinauskas, a member of Troop 12 in Western Springs and sophomore at Fenwick High School, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout! His Eagle project was a collection to create care packages filled with non-perishable items and handwritten letters to send to our deployed Sailors in the U.S. Navy. He exceeded his goal of 10 boxes and collected enough to fill 25 boxes to send to our troops! Helping to pack the care packages were long time friends Connor Madigan, Sammy Harders, Davis Miller, family members and Mrs. Pat Leazenby of Molly's Adopt-a-Sailor. Pete researched organizations and chose to work with Molly’s Adopt-a-Sailor, a local non-profit organization. Molly's Adopt-a-Sailor was started by a group of Navy moms wanting to support their sons with care packages. Their sons would ask for extra items to share because a lot of their enlisted friends never received care packages or letters of any kind. Molly’s Adopt-a-Sailor has grown into a national organization supporting our deployed Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Coast Guard and Army with care packages sent each month! Pete is thankful to all those who helped to support his collection by donating items and writing letters, especially Troop 12, West Swim Club, his grandmother's friends at the WS Senior Center, friends and neighbors and Mrs. Leazenby for her direction and support!
