Lucky Lottery Stores Scatter the Western Suburbs, Powerball at $800M

With the Powerball Jackpot jumping to $800 million — the largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history — players are ducking into corner convenience stores and gas stations across the nation to snag a ticket or two before the Saturday drawing.

The chances of matching all five numbers, plus the Powerball are 1 in 292,201,338. The place that sells the winning Powerball ticket will receive a bonus of half a million dollars.

Elmhurst:

  • Power Market, 572 West Lake St., Elmhurst. Sold a $100,000 Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick ticket to an Elmhurst resident for the Oct. 6, 2012, drawing.
  • Minuteman, 218 East Butterfield Road, Elmhurst. Sold a $1 million Mega Millions Quick Pick ticket to a group of Oak Brook ComEd employees that had been playing for six years. The drawing was on Oct. 21, 2014.

Another store lucky for Elmhurst residents:

  • 7-Eleven, 1790 North Farnsworth Ave., Aurora. Sold a $50,000-winning Illinois Lottery Crossword instant ticket in July 2015 to an Elmhurst resident.


La Grange:

  • 7-Eleven, 704 E. 31st St., La Grange. Sold a $10,000 winning ticket in the January 2015 New Year’s Millionaire Raffle.


Countryside:

  • 5540 South Brainard Ave., Countryside. Sold a $1 million-winning $4,000,000 Gold Bullion instant ticket in Nov. 2014.


Downers Grove/Woodridge:

  • Jewel-Osco, 2317 75th St. in Woodridge. Sold a $1 million Mega Millions Quick Pick ticket to a Downers Grove couple for the March 18, 2014, drawing.

Another store lucky for Downers Grove residents:

  • Villa Park Mobil, 1 East St. Charles Road in Villa Park. A Downers Grove man bought a 50X The Cash lottery ticket that won him $2 million in June 2015.

Oak Park

  • Roosevelt BP, 7140 West Roosevelt Road, Oak Park. Sold a $400,000 jackpot-prize-winning Quick Pick Lucky Day Lotto ticket to a Forest Park woman for the March 29, 2015, drawing. Also sold a $1 million Quick Pick Mega Millions ticket for the Dec. 6, 2013 drawing.
  • 7-Eleven, 6440 West Diversey Ave., Oak Park. Sold a winning $5,000 A Week for 20 Years- The Good Life instant ticket in April 2014.
  • Clark Oak Park, 330 Chicago Ave., Oak Park. Sold an $8.75 million Lotto Quick Pick ticket for the Oct. 19, 2013, drawing.
