Man Follows Girl In Western Springs: Police

The driver is seen following the girl for three blocks, report says.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A man driving a car followed a young girl for three blocks early Tuesday evening in the Field Park neighborhood in Western Springs, police said.

About 6 p.m., the man was traveling south when he started following the girl in the 3900 block of Linden Avenue, according to a police news release. Then he proceeded west in the 200 block of 40th Street and south in the 4000 block of Clausen Avenue.

The man did not speak with the girl, police said. He was said to be driving an older white, four-door sedan, possibly a 2000 to 2008 Toyota. The man was described as in his late 20s to early 30s and having a dark, scruffy beard.

One witness said the man's car had only one functioning headlight. Another witness said the man was possibly Hispanic, police said.

The police department said it has increased patrol activity and would continue to closely monitor the incident.
