Most Western Springs Road Money Going To This Area
Village explains why one neighborhood is getting most of the benefit of this year's road program.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — One Western Springs neighborhood is set to benefit from most of the money for road resurfacing, paid for with the state's gas tax.
The village is poised to get work done this year on 51st Street, Ellington Avenue, 52nd Place, Clausen Avenue and 51st Place. This means most of the money is targeted to the Springdale subdivision, which is in the village's southeastern corner.
At Monday's Village Board meeting, Trustee Nicole Chen asked why this was the case.

In response, Matthew Supert, the village's municipal services director, said every street is given a numerical rating on its condition every year. This year, the data showed the streets in Springdale needed resurfacing.
Casey Biernacki, assistant director of municipal services, said $100,000 has been budgeted for spot patching around the village. With the village coming under budget on its resurfacing program, officials would likely ask trustees for more money for spot patching, he said.
