Presbyterian Church of Western Springs Welcomes Associate Pastor

The Presbyterian Church of Western Springs is pleased to welcome Lottie MacAulay Friedman as its next Associate Pastor

The Presbyterian Church of Western Springs is pleased to welcome Lottie MacAulay Friedman as its next Associate Pastor. Lottie will begin her ministry June 15, with her first Sunday in worship on June 21.

Lottie MacAulay Friedman was born and raised in the Seattle area. True to her Pacific Northwest roots, she has an abiding love for the great outdoors and strong coffee. Lottie was a student-athlete at Dartmouth College where she played volleyball and studied Archaeology, Religion, and Jewish Studies. She met her now-husband, Jack, on freshman move-in day! After college, Lottie answered a call to ministry and began studies at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey. While in seminary, she served at two local churches and completed Clinical Pastoral Education at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated with her Master of Divinity degree in May. Outside of church, Lottie loves spending time outdoors and reading novels. She’s never met a craft project or dog she didn’t like.

“I am passionate about relational ministry and hospitality, so I feel called to a church that, like God, extends a wide embrace to all people.” – Lottie MacAulay Friedman

In recommending Lottie to the congregation, Steve Wennerstrum, Personnel Committee Chairperson stated: “Youth ministry has always been very important to PCWS and is an area that we will continue to focus on and invest in. Lottie is the ideal candidate to help us carry on this proud tradition. She brings meaningful experience working with youth, young adults, and adults. During the interview process, she was able to interact with a number of our families as well as the Session. The positive feedback was universal. These sentiments were echoed by her references. While youth ministry will be her primary focus, Lottie brings the extra bonus of being an ordained minister, allowing her to contribute to PCWS in many other areas as well. This is great news for PCWS.”

“I am thrilled to have a partner in ministry in Lottie! I am confident that she will bring a balance of radical welcome and spiritual depth that our young people – and all of us – need today.” The Rev. Erik P. Khoobyarian, Pastor and Head of Staff at PCWS
