See Delivery Driver Stealing In Western Springs: Cops
Man who delivered TV for Amazon later admits to stealing it, police say.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — What the delivery driver giveth, he later taketh. At least in one case, police say.
In November, police arrested Malcolm J. Cox, 28, of Chicago, in connection with the theft of a TV from a porch in Western Springs.
The police reported the arrest in its weekly blotter at the time, but did not indicate that Cox was a delivery driver associated with Amazon. That was revealed recently in the police department's annual report, which prompted Patch to file a public records request for the full police report.

On Oct. 11, a resident in the 4100 block of Wolf Road told police that a package with a $200 TV had been stolen from her front porch, according to the report. Police said video showed the man leaving the package on the front porch and then coming back a short while later to take it.
In November, a company representative confirmed to police that the driver was Cox, the report said. "If possible on Thursday, could we discuss not arresting him in front of the team, but rather I can hold him off to the side for when you arrive," the representative said.

The police report indicated Cox was connected to Priority Parcels. On Nov. 12, officers went to the Priority Parcels building in Melrose Park and took Cox into custody.
At the Western Springs police station, Cox admitted he took the TV in question, according to the report. When asked about his actions leading up to the theft, Cox said he had a glitch with his scanning device. He said he remembered taking the TV and throwing it in the garbage after taking it, police said. Asked why, he said he wanted to go home and that if he came back with the TV to his workplace, his bosses would send him all the way back to make the delivery, the report said.
The resident said Amazon was reimbursing her for the loss and sending her a new TV. She said she wanted to press charges.
