Still No New Virus Cases In Western Springs: County
The number of virus deaths remains the same in the last week in the village.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — For three weeks in a row, Western Springs has seen no more coronavirus cases.
The total of coronavirus cases in Western Springs since the pandemic's beginning stood at 1,321 on Sunday, the same as it has been for weeks, according to the Cook County Public Health Department.
The number of Western Springs' virus-related deaths stayed the same in the last week, at six. The latest deaths were reported May 31, May 11 and Nov. 21, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. That's a mortality rate of less than 1 percent. All the local deaths have been those who were 53 or older, according to the county medical examiner.

As of Sunday, Western Springs had 98.9 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 81.7 in Darien, 88.3 in La Grange Park, 91.8 in DuPage County, 93.7 in Hinsdale, 94.6 in Elmhurst, 100.3 in Clarendon Hills, 102.3 in suburban Cook County, 104.8 in Burr Ridge and 121.2 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,392,552, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,245.
Nationally, 33.4 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.1 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 603,018 people have died from the virus in the United States.
