Theatre Of Western Springs Presents Thriller 'Deathtrap'

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The Theatre of Western Springs will present the second Mainstage play of its 90th season, "Deathtrap," written by Ira Levin and directed by Jay Fontanetta. Performances will take place Oct. 18 - 28, at TWS, 4384 Hampton Ave., Western Springs. The theatre said the play is a thriller and recommended for mature audiences.
The schedule for the show is:
- 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays – Oct. 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27
- 2:30 p.m. Sundays, Oct 21, 28
- 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct 27
- 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct 21
According to the theatre, “Deathtrap” opened on Broadway exactly 40 years ago.

“It’s relevant because audiences haven't changed all that much,” Fontanetta said in a release. “We still like being scared. We like the thrill of trying to predict what comes next. We like the catharsis that comes when a villain gets his or her comeuppance.”
He said the frights just keep on coming.

“I dig [the script] because just when you think you have something figured out, the playwright flips your world upside-down, and it's so refreshing,” he said.
