The 50th Annual Teachers Breakfast provided WSCCI the opportunity to highlight and thank the educators in the region for their dedication to educating our future leaders, employees and consumers. In addition, area businesses are joined together to show their support in welcoming the new teachers and administrators to our region. Districts 101, 102, 105, 106, 107, 204, Helping Hand Center and LaGrange Area Department of Special Education were each present with New Teachers and Administrators along with current faculty to celebrate the new school year.

It was a fantastic morning filled with energy, inspiration, and leadership. To launch the jovial mood of the event, each district was given a selfie stick to have a little fun with one another and pose with their new peers. And to keep with the spirit, the districts were asked to stand and cheer with enthusiasm when announced (party favors and noisemakers were provided!), and were surprised with a selfie on the screen of their respective Superintendent. In addition, each Superintendent provided a thoughtful and inspiring quote to share with their new team. It was a lively morning that enabled the New Teachers to launch into their school year with enthusiasm.

One of the event hallmarks was an inspiring speech from David C. Franson – former Lyons Township High School Principal with a 30 year career as an Educator, Leader, Coach, Dean and much more. David shared his vibrant insight to highlight that Teachers are leaders in this community – and that your integrity and positive mental attitude will be remembered and cared about more than your GPA or class rank.
