Western Springs Man Accused Of Domestic Battery: Cops

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A Western Springs man is facing two counts of domestic battery, according to a Western Springs police report.

John Rex Smith III, 38, was taken into custody about 11:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at his house, police said.

Police interviewed Smith after the Department of Children and Family Services was called to investigate alleged abuse of a family member, police said. The abuse report was made at John Laidlaw Elementary School, 4072 Forest Ave., a couple of days after the alleged abuse happened at home. Smith admitted to physically abusing two family members, the report said.
