Western Springs Obituaries: Madeleine Easter Cronin, 94

Madeleine Easter Cronin, 94, of Western Springs, was the wife of the late Phil, mother of Suzanne Comes, Nancy Clark, Michelle Pallastrini and Patricia Casey, grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of two. A visitation will be held Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home in Countryside. Mass at St. John of the Cross Church will take place at 11:15 a.m. Friday. Donations to the American Cancer Society of Chicago or Wellness House of Hinsdale are encouraged. An obituary for Ms. Cronin was published in the Chicago Tribune on Dec. 22.

Gerda Eugenia Hasty, 88, of Western Springs, was the wife of the late Burl "Dick" Smartz and the late Kenneth Hasty. Ms. Hasty was the mother of Joanne Dawson, Terri Smartz, John Smartz and the late Marie Jolley. She was the grandmother of three and great-grandmother of two. A visitation was held Friday at Hallowell & James Funeral Home in Countryside and a funeral service was held Saturday. Donations to Wallace Street United Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis are encouraged. An obituary for Ms. Hasty was published in the Chicago Tribune on Dec. 20.
