Western Springs Obituaries: Martha Sue Murphy, 79

The obituary of the following Western Springs resident was recently featured on Legacy.com:

Martha Sue (Sue) Malloy Murphy, 79, died on Nov. 4 in Brookfield. Ms. Murphy was wife to the late Joseph C. Murphy and mother to Joseph C. Murphy Jr., Sean Murphy, Edmund Murphy, Paul Murphy, James Murphy, Hidegi Tanaka, Martha Sue Murphy, Patrick Murphy and Jennie Murphy Crownson. Born in Chicago, Ms. Murphy's family moved to Jackson, TN, when she was 6. She attended Lambuth College in Jackson before moving back to Chicago and marrying in 1957. Ms. Murphy worked for the IL Central Railroad and the Chicago Sun Times while also taking classes at Mundelein College. She and her husband moved to Maywood in 1961 and then, in 1970, to Western Springs, where she raised her children. A memorial service took place at St. John's Lutheran Church on Nov. 9. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Martha Sue Murphy. An obituary for Ms. Murphy was published in the Nov. 7 edition of the Chicago Tribune.
