Western Springs Pizzeria Gets Counterfeits From Same Person: Cops

Delivery drivers report receiving the $100 counterfeit bills, police say.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The Western Springs Police Department released its latest blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the police reports:

  • Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, 4700 Gilbert Ave., reported Wednesday that two delivery drivers had received counterfeit $100 bills on two occasions from the same customer.
  • A resident in the 3900 block of Central Avenue told police Dec. 28 that the resident wrote two checks to a Texas company for $104.59 and $150.06. When these checks cleared the bank, the residents said the amounts were altered to $2,100 and $2,000.
  • Western Springs police received 20 reports of fraudulent unemployment compensation claims in the last week. Police departments across Illinois are facing similar situations.
