Western Springs Store Manager Admits To Theft: Police

Manager gave the details to police in a statement, report says.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The manager of the Tuesday Morning home goods store in Western Springs admitted to the theft of money from the chain last week, police said.

Through a public records request, Western Springs Patch obtained the police report on the arrest of Gerard Perzyna, 64, of Brookfield, on a charge of theft.

Police were called about 4 p.m. Friday to the store at 4700 Gilbert Ave. Officers met with the district manager, who said Perzyna was completing fraudulent returns from cash purchases and keeping the cash, police said.

In a statement to police, Perzyna, who was sitting in the back office, admitted to the activity and said he had made 13 fraudulent returns from November to January, totaling about $325, according to the report. The statement was signed by Perzyna and the district manager, police said.

According to the report, the district manager provided seven return receipts totaling about $226, all initialed by Perzyna. The district manager told police the company wanted to pursue charges against Perzyna, who was released and given a date to appear in court.
